No Friday farewell for Love Street

Plans for Saints' last ever league match at Love Street to be shown on live TV on a Friday afternoon have been knocked back. Setanta had hoped to screen the game against Motherwell on January 2 before officers from Strathclyde Police decided otherwise.

Gus MacPherson may have been celebrating five years in charge at Love Street this week, but now he's been given another reason to be happy. The Saints boss has successfully completed the UEFA Pro Licence course, the top qualification available to football managers across Europe.

Prices cut for final game

Prices have been cut for Saints' last ever league game at Love Street against Motherwell. Tickets will go on sale for the match, to be played early next year, on Thursday morning.

A superb Jim Hamilton free-kick ten minutes from time ensured Saints won the last ever reserve game to be played at Love Street. A mixture of first team players and talented youngsters put in a fine performance to take all three points.

What do we need to do to get a decision against Celtic? Going by referee Willie Collum today, it is apparently OK for goalkeepers to assault outfield players. For once, the talking point didn't result in a Celtic goal but a good Saints performance still ended in defeat.

The referee always plays a major role when he is in charge of a game involving the Old Firm. Eddie Smith has robbed us of draws on the last two occasions we've faced Celtic and it wouldn't have been a surprise to see him given Saturday's game. Fortunately, we've got Willie Collum instead.
