The future of John Sutton was thrown into doubt this week after a number of articles appeared in the national press. The Saints striker is out of contract at the end of the season and is looking increasingly likely to leave Love Street in the summer.

The Sunday Mail claimed at the weekend that Sutton had turned down the offer of a contract and was set to leave. However, Saints boss Gus MacPherson denied that any contract offer had been snubbed, which was followed up by a statement from Sutton's agent that he hadn't rejected an offer as one hadn't been made.

This all comes on the back of Falkirk manager John Hughes claiming he'd like to sign the striker in the summer (the fact we're about to play Falkirk is obviously a coincidence!). Sutton is almost certain to leave in the summer, but I'd imagine he'd have his sights set far higher than Falkirk.
