Saints are apparently interested in signing Hartlepool United's Gavin Strachan should they clinch promotion to the SPL in the next few weeks. The midfielder's contract expires in the summer and is also attracting interest from Dundee United.

Strachan is the son of Celtic manager Gordon Strachan and has been playing for Hartlepool for a few years, although he had a spell on loan to Stockport County this season. He has also had loan terms at Motherwell and Dundee earlier in his career.

That's about all I know (Soccerbase is wonderful) about him. If both ourselves and Dundee United are interested, and whose to say we are, the chances of him choosing us over them are slim.
