Now that the relegation battle is over, Saints chairman Stewart Gilmour hasn't wasted any time in shedding doubt on first division champions Gretna's plans to play in the SPL next season. It's time for another summer of controversy concerning whether or not someone's getting promoted.
Gilmour's concern is that Gretna have lodged groundsharing plans for a season while failing to demonstrate how they will have an SPL standard stadium in place for season 2008/09. He is also frustrated that the club have been given dispensation, while Saints had to pay £200,000 to install undersoil heating despite having similar plans for a new ground. He said: "I can confirm St Mirren Football Club have written in an official capacity to the SPL seeking clarification on Gretna's promotion for next season.
