Saints were put out of the CIS Cup last night by fellow first division side St. Johnstone. With the scores level after 90 minutes, the Perth Saints scored two in the first period of extra time to send us out.
For the first time since Caley hammered us 5-0 at the end of the title season, Barry Lavety started a game for Saints, and lasted almost until half time of extra time! I wasn't there so can't give much comment, but I understand St. Mirren had the majority of possession and chances for the first 90 minutes. St. Johnstone's first goal came from a set piece, as Darren Dods scored a header whilst being marked by Robert Dunn. Thats the tiny Robert Dunn. They were then awarded a dubious penalty, as Keigan Parker went down easily and it seemed to be outside the box (from what I'm told). The real Saints did manage a goal through Kevin Twaddle, but it was judged to be offside.Ah well, we're concentrating on the league anyway ;-)
