Saints chairman Stewart Gilmour has revealed that when we finally move to our new stadium, the pitch will be made of grass rather than plastic. Saints played on an artificial surface for the first time against Hamilton on Saturday.

Gilmour had previously said that a plastic pitch at our new ground on Greenhill Road would be an option, as it would rule out the chance of games being called off and allow money to be made by renting it out. However, it seems that the comments of the players after Saturday's match, which we drew 2-2, have put him off the idea.

This is good news, as I am totally against a surface other than grass being used for a football pitch. Hopefully we'll have more good stadium news before the end of the year.
