The award is fully deserved and is the only sensible option, although given some of the Manager of the Month awards it wouldn't have been a surprise to see Owen Coyle or Billy Reid pick up the award. Despite winning the league, Gus only won the manager of the month award once! Maybe this is just as well, as it often acts as a jinx.
Former Saint Mixu Paatelainen picked up the third division award after guiding Cowdenbeath to the title, helped in no small part by on loan Saint David McKenna.
