Saints failed to beat Brechin yesterday, letting the Glebe Park side take their first point of the season. With several players back from injury we should have beaten them.

I wasn't there but I understand the referee Mike McCurry had a shocker, no surprise there. He warded Brechin a penalty when Kirk Broadfoot had won the ball. And I thought Robert Pires and Kevin Phillips had conned the refs yesterday! Fortunately Saints equalised just minutes later through Ricky Gillies. Brechin had a goal disallowed for offside just before half time, another reportedly dodgy decision by the officials.

Reading reports it seems a draw was a fair result, though Saints threw everything at Derek Soutar in the Brechin goal. Soutar is on loan from Dundee and played for Scotland under 21s against Germany midweek, and based on the reports it seems easy to understand why they won!
