The Love Street clear out is continuing with the news that John Baird has signed for Montrose. The striker has spent the last few months on loan at the third division club after a similar spell at Stenhousemuir earlier in the season.
The news that Baird is leaving is of no surprise. He didn't feature much last season and hasn't featured at all this term, so the chances of him breaking through must have been pretty slim.Baird went to Montrose with fellow Saint Mark Docherty - who is being offered a new contract by the Buddies - earlier in 2007 and scored five goals along the way. During his two years at Love Street he scored four times, including a late winner against St. Johnstone in 2004.
Baird is not the first player that we know of to be leaving Saints in the summer. Stephen Anderson, Iain Anderson, Brian McGinty, Kevin McGowne, Kirk Broadfoot and some youth players have already been released or signed for other clubs.
